The Senate Democrats are having a panel today (on CSPAN) to address the offshoring of jobs, because they couldn't get the Repugnicans to talk about it. They've had testimony from several economists, at least one of which claims that the Ricardo "comparative advantage" model of free markets doesn't apply or work when consumption occurs in one country and the labor occurs in another. Eventually, the consumers get tapped out, the labor's products aren't bought, and the system collapses to the detriment of both countries.
