The irony is that Martha Stewart didn't do anywhere near the damage to investors that has been done by hundreds, if not thousands of others. Many of the worst offenders haven't even been indicted. Among recent examples: TouchAmerica Holdings, which went bankrupt while its management was taking an extra $5 million for "change in control," and which all the while claimed that the company had no debt. There hasn't even been an SEC investigation, probably because one of the key people involved is well placed politically.
