War Hero? Inasmuch as all combat soldiers are heroes, argument can be made Kerry is indeed a hero. Decorated Hero? Several of his decorations were earned under questionable circumstances which can only be cleared up by Kerry releasing his Military Records. Benedict Arnold was also a hero of the American Revolution prior to his betrayal. Silver Star: John Kerry earned his Silver Star, U.S.A.'s 5th highest award for heroism, for delivering the 'Coup De Grace' to an enemy soldier that had already been felled by a .50 caliber (1/2 inch) round. Kerry wasn't even the one firing the machine gun. There can be no doubt that an enemy soldier, writhing on the ground after being shot by one of the world's most powerful machine guns, presented NO threat at the time the Kerry charged in and delivered the Coup De Grace. NoJohnKerry.org believes Kerry himself put himself in for the Silver Star, which is permitted as John Kerry was an Officer. Purple Heart X3: John Kerry's 3 Purple Hearts were for mere scratches which required little or no hospital stay. I have seen Kerry supporters even claim Kerry "took a bullet for his country". Kerry was NEVER shot. Despite the fact he was hardly injured, Kerry was not dissuaded from using those Purple Hearts to invoke a regulation which allowed his early departure from his 'Tour of Duty'. As an Officer, John Kerry could have put himself in for those 3 Purple Hearts, which in accordance with the military tradition of affording an "Officer and a Gentleman" the benefit of the doubt, would have likely been authorized
