The Democrats do not coronate. They, debate and elect.

If the Dems were faced with renominating their candidate who as President flew from one military base to another on 9/11 and was not in command of the situation by ordering a fleet of fighter jets to fly in US 1 into Washington DC, the Dems would not have renominated that candidate.

If the Dems had to renominate a candidate who as President did not fight a real war but instead flew in on an aircraft carrier in the peaceful waters off the Pacific coast, they would not have renominated that candidate. They did so with Dukakis and that is one too many. Clinton was smart to avoid such photo op also. Kerry does not need that photo-op and that is why the Dems nominated him.

This is just the beginning of a long list. But siffice to say that the Dems did not reject Dean because of his scream or else the Repubs would have rejected Bush for his bout of alcoholism. These are not the issues that candidates fail to acquire the nomination from their folks. It was purely a question of electability. It was purely based on who could truly say "Bring It On" and have the Repubs shaking in their pants and getting nervous.

So it is "Bring It On" word for word, action for action, leadership for leadership.
