It's a tough problem with no apparent solution. The "free trade" answer is that America's living standards go down while the low wage countries go up until some sort of equilibrium is reached - which certainly gives us the dirty end of the stick. It might be argued that we've had the sweet end of the stick for a long time, but that's little comfort in the present.
Remember when the gov. was urging former factory workers to retrain as "knowledge workers"! What's next? Real Estate Agents?, Auto Mechanics?, Plumbers?, ( hard to outsource )
