What's wrong with trying to defer war for a year?
Bush defered it forever and let some other guy with his same birthday DIE in his place. There's a guy on the Nam wall with Bush's birthday. Dead. That could have been Bush if he hadn't dodged the draft. Then he went AWOL on top of it and is lying to us about it. Who cares if Kerry wanted to avoid combat for a year. The point is he willingly went, volunteered. served in combat, killed, took wounds, saved lives and came back a hero. No one can argue with that. Then he did something even more important. He helped stop the war.
