Kerry Dots Deliberation With Decision

story.news.yahoo.com

<<...Now that Kerry has effectively won the Democratic presidential nomination, strategists say, his executive skills will come under scrutiny in a campaign against an opponent whose seemingly snap decision-making has been noted.

Kerry's supporters say his approach is nuanced and thorough, better for tackling complicated issues such as the economy and the war on terrorism. Far from paralyzing, they say, it is what makes his argument compelling.

"George Bush is, 'I know what's right, and I know what's wrong,' regardless of the nature of reality," said Jonathan Winer, Kerry's counsel from 1983 to 1994. "John takes the opposite approach: 'Don't assume you know where I am. Don't assume I know what I think. We'll talk it through.' It's a deliberate suspension."...>>

I don't think that's a story at all. Perhaps a tidbit of a highlight, but certainly nothing heavy.

What do you think Glenn?

If anybody tried to avoid the VietNam War it was GW Bush -- he didn't even show up for ALL of his National Guard training meetings. Bush has always received special treatment due to his family connections.

I have an uncle who used to be quite conservative and he served our country in the VietNam war -- he has watched Bush operate as president and recently told me that Bush is an embarassment to this country...this uncle is a retired opthamologist who travels the world volunteering with the Gates Foundation helping to eradicate diseases....in the last few years he has served in The Sudan, Pakistan, and The Phillipines...he works with doctors and citizens from around the world and gets valuable input on how our country is viewed...My uncle claims most folks outside the U.S. view Bush as a cowboy who recklessly led our country into an unnecessary and expensive war in Iraq...YET MOST FOLKS MY UNCLE WORKS WITH ARE APALLED AT HOW LITTLE THE U.S. GIVES IN FOREIGN AID (as a percentage of GDP) TO HELP ERADICATE DISEASE AND POVERTY AROUND THE WORLD...look at how much money we have wasted going after WMDs in Iraq -- hundreds of billions....look at how we have antagonized so many allies and other countries around the world....look at our record deficits...Look at how important environmental laws have been gutted...I wonder if Bush is really proud of his accomplishments...? Maybe its time for a higher standard of leadership and 'a humble foreign policy.'
