Rock, The problems go back over 200 years. The America you learned about in school is a fairytale wonderland that has never existed. The unwashed masses need fairytales in order to duck responsibility. Heroes need to be demigods with gifts beyond the abilities of common man. That gives common men the rationalizations needed to avoid taking responsibility to insure their freedom.
