If this is the guy you saw, his specialities as listed are Diseases and Surgery of the Eye Cataracts, Glaucoma, Corneal, Surgery & Laser Vision Correction (LASIK). That is NOT retinal surgery. He may well be excellent at what he does, but retinal surgery isn't what he does. Cataract and LASIK surgery are, frankly, relatively simple procedures, as much as any eye surgery can be simple. He hasn't gone in for the really complex stuff. And looking at their home page, yes, they do list Retinal Detachment Repair, but it's not, apparently one of their specialities, since they have links to Cataract and LASIK services but not to retinal. so they look like the kind of practice that does a lot of basic eye stuff, which cataract surgery is, but not so much of the retinal work.

Without meaning to interfere, this is more, I think, the kind of guy you want.

I have no idea whether he's any good, of course, but their practice specializes in diseases of the retina and vitreous (that's the fluid inside the eye, where your floaters are), and they have a number of doctors on board doing nothing, apparently, but retinal and vitreous care. This guy may not be their best, but he's not only on the Baylor list, but also on Parkland and several others.

Having been through it, and being able to see only because I got the very best care (my first doc sent me to another clinic, who were generalists and fortuntely realized my situation was beyond them and so sent me to the retinal specialists), I admit to having a prejudice here in favor of retinal specialists. But even if your situation is fairly simple, if there's even a small possibility that seeing the real specialists will result in a better outcome for you, for me the eyes are worth it.
