I do not buy "silver lining" theories.
Yes it will be there for a VERY small select subset, but the counter argument is too easy:

What can we possibly learn here that can not be learned elsewhere or taught elsewhere? What innovation can we come up with than can not be made elsewhere?

There may be a few research jobs or whatever that benefit but unless one believes in miracles, I do not see answers to those questions, and thus dismiss "silver lining" arguments.
