The republicans can no more run a pro choice candidate than the dems can run a pro life candidate.

The legacy of roe vs. wade is to make abortion a permanent litmus test for presidential candidates.

Given ru-486 and similar drugs that will probably hit the markets in years to come, the issue has little practical significance, imo (can't put the genie back in the bottle).

I agree with you. Cheney is too dull and the Repubs have to think at least two moves ahead. There is another election in 2008 and Cheney isn't going to be elected President.
