Chinese got lots and lots of paper dollar, yes, but this also means that they also pay higher prices for their base commodities.
They are buying all the scrap they can get now.
IMHO, this is going to be a self-regulating process, as the rest of the world has no scrap left and reluctant to buy first melt.
IMO, production would shift towards China, but total demand would not increase in a significant manner.

FWIW, Nickel dropped from 17750 $/ton to 13300, year to date, from Jan 6th.
