Class hatred is a cult, not a reasoned position...

Solution: eliminate the 'special tax preference items' (loopholes to you and me), and move everyone to ONE FLAT TAX RATE.

GZ, I certainly disagree with you. Government did help train me for my job by subsidizing my college and law school education. Government did train my wife for her job. Government did help my son train for his job as a Pharmacist and my other son for his job as a banker. Government has helped hundreds of my clients train for jobs.

OT. Isn't it about time we trashed that monstrosity otherwise known as the tax code? Even when the IRS is trying to save us money (qualified dividends) they add a page of tortuous instructions and calculations! Think how much money we would save by eliminating the jobs of those who design and maintain this Rube Goldberg!

That is the problem with the modern neocons. The rich should pay more in taxes because they have benefited the most. They didn't make fortunes in other societies they made them here. An they got to be fantasticly wealthy under a more austere tax structure than Bush has put into place. The expectation that they would risk that wealth because of decreased tax rates suggest only that further growth of their wealth outweighs the risk associated with new investments that may benefit society. I have seen no empirical evidence to support such a thesis.
