Nonsense.

Cell phone companies (MOT, QCOM, NOK) are doing great worldwide regardless of the US economy.

Networked Storage companies (NTAP, EMC, QLGC, ELX) are seeing strong demand worldwide regardless of US IT spending.

Consumer electronics products (DVDs, TVs, digital cameras, printers) are seeing strong demand worldwide regardless of the US economy. These are mainly Japanese products so its harder to invest in them using the US stock market, but LXK (printers) and OVTI (camera semis) give you some exposure here.

These product areas (cell phones, networked storage, digital consumer electronics) have growth trends that overpower the economic situation.
