Mike,

I wonder if the 'death tax' which basically effects only the the newly rich could be expanded to cover the legacy rich. Little discussed is how the very very rich eastern establishment, looks down on the noveau-rich and hides their billions in tax-exempt trust funds and other shelters.

Does anyone here think that the Heinz fortune will not survive Kerry's wife and go tax-free to her children?

Why is it that most 'working rich' are conservatives and most 'idle rich' - are progressives?

Maybe the 'working rich', who are the best examples of American ingenuity and work ethic, should support a 100% death tax - it would kill off the idle rich :-)

I don't care about incentives. I just don't believe that the collective has any moral claim to the capital a person has accumulated over his working life time. It's a matter of property rights. Do citizens own property of don't they? Let's put that on the table and decide it. Now's as good a time as any.
