Don't you realize that you are supposed to be sympathetic towards suicide bombers? After all, it is wrong for a nation to preemptively prevent the annihilation of its people.

Similarly you are supposed to be disgusted at the perceived excesses of democratic governments such as the US and Israel, while praising the tyrants, OILogarchs and demagogues of Arab nations.

You need to learn the rules of what is considered "moderate" here. <ggggggg>

He is, IMO, among many other things, an anti-Jewish bigot

Ad hominem. Attack the argument, not the person, and you will have a better chance of defending your view.

I do have a sympathy for Israel and the Jews as the numerical underdogs.

I also have a sympathy for Jews as an ethnic group that have been brutally oppressed, not the mention killed in large numbers, just because of their religion.

However, that does not mean they can now be free to oppress other peoples.

The number of ethnic Greek refugees exceeded the total number of ethnic Turks on the island.

How sad. Maybe they should have worried about dislocation of their fellows before they started on the ethnic cleansing of Turks as the road to the Greek junta's goals of annexing Cyprus to mainland Greece.

There may be other reasons why Greece might not object to Turkish EU membership. Greece may simply have little interest in Greek Cypriots

That's simply not true.

So..... at your request below is an excerpt (which I think speaks for itself) from a Feb/Mar 2004 Amnesty International newsletter: "On a daily basis, ordinary Kurds in Turkey face a host of restrictions on their fundamental human rights. The Turkish Constitution denies them the right give their children Kurdish names, or to learn their own language at school. "

This is, again, simply not true.

In late 2003, the bans on Kurdish language were lifted in Turkey - i.e. Kurdish names, broadcasting etc in Kurdish are all now possible.

Turkey did this in compliance with the requirements of EU, where it hopes to ascend one day, rather than the goodness of their hearts. But the truth stands - the bans are lifted.

That is why, incidentally, I asked how Turkey was CURRENTLY oppressing Kurds, in your opinion...
