Additionally, high gas prices very well could keep people 'inside' more....as they will cut back on going out simply cause it'll cost $5 just to drive to the movie theater. Then look at what is going to happen with all of the products we buy that are shipped via 18 wheelers and etc....That box of Nabisco Wafers is going to jump in price simply because of the additional costs involved in getting products to point of sale...and how many products will be effected by this? ALOT! Lastly, look at how far technology has advanced...The advancemets made over the last 100 years are mind boggling...as are the advancemets made over just the past 20 years.....yet here we are, still relying on automobiles that rely on gasoline, a commodity that is getting scarcer and scarcer (well, there may still be plenty, but it sure is harder getting hold of due to the political nature of that commodity) and is jumping in price in huge % jumps. It just amazes me that we can do the things we can, technology wise, yet they still dont have mass production of vehicles that dont rely on gasoline, and we the consumer have no choice but to bow to OPEC and pay whatever they want, no matter how ridiculously high prices get.....
