Kerry is no Dukakis. He wil not wilt up against the typical GOP attacks. In fact he will strike back even harder than he was struck. Kerry learned a lot from watching Dukakis get knocked down by a Bush. Kerry is eight inches taller than Dukakis, has Lincolnesque looks and is a war hero. These things matter. Plus mental toughness.
