RON PAUL, HYPOCRITE OF THE WEEK

PartyTime,

It was very disappointing to read that Rep. Ron Paul would take such a backwoods approach to the ICC. While Paul has been one of my heroes for his wise counsel against the war in Iraq, and in opposition to a thuggish, right-wing propaganda tool like NED, the National Endowment for Democracy, he now leaves me feeling deeply ambivalent about his intellect and his honesty.

Clearly the U.S. harbors war criminals. Henry Kissinger and Wesley Clark come to mind. Why should decent people within the U.S. not want the ICC to have jurisdiction over these malefactors? It's as if we simply don't believe in anything anymore except winning. No standards of decency need apply to Americans who are ruthlessly promoting the interests of the American elites. Euphemistically called "the national interest" by the propagandists.
