He is Forbes on his mother's side. Rich Boston family descended from Gov. Winthrop of Massachusetts Bay Colony. His fathers side - grandfathers family was Jewish (Fritz Kohn was the grandfathers name), converted to Catholicism and changed name to Kerry, came to America. Apparently the family origins were kept a secret. Kerry was always assumed to be Irish till this year - there is a County Kerry in Ireland. Kerry claims to have only found out about his true ethnic heritage now that he's running for Prez. suntimes.com
