I'll buy Forbes as Scottish. Scotch-Irish refers to Scottish Protestants whom the English sent to Ireland (mostly Ulster) as colonists and who later left there and came to America. Maybe that's sorta Irish.

Re. Bush and Kerry distant relation. Figures. New England had a small founding population back in the 1600's - a few tens of thousands. A person with New England ancestry which goes back before the 1800's is likely distantly related to every one else whose New England ancestry goes back that far.
