I doubt money is a problem for this owner. House has been rental property, handled through a property management company, for as long as I've lived here (26 years), and I've always assumed the foreign-named owner is overseas somewhere.

House is actually pretty small for the neighborhood and was desperately in need of some sprucing up and expansion, for sure. It's odd, though, to start a major project like that in the frigid January weather, see workmen toiling away even in the snow, and then see absolutely nothing going on for the past month or so.

Being an absentee owner is fraught with problems. Maybe that's the case here. Not a good thing to have a home's interior completely and constantly exposed to cold damp air--tearing it down might be necessary in the end, regardless.
