"Does anyone sense an Intel move of Dothan to the low end desktop?"

It could be. Rumors have it they are beavering away at dual core. As you note, it'd be a low end part unless they can really get the clock speed up. And Intel needs at least one high end processor or their margins are in danger.

Dothan is supposed to be introduced at what?, 1.7GHz? 1.8? They are going to need at least 2.4GHz for the desktop, more if they can't do it for another 6 months. Ok, they can do things like integrate WiFi or 3G, but I don't see that getting them the big bucks for the desktop.
