I saw the slides but have not (yet) heard the audio
due to technical difficulties... suggest you visit the
STXN web site and follow the links to hear a replay
of the presentation yourself. From the slides I saw,
there was nothing to cause a share price plunge...
the only potential negative is that they're predicting
it will take 12 months to reach profitability. There
is some discussion on yahoo wherein some folks
seem to think STXN could end up merging with
a larger company... I hope that doesn't happen,
but I'm curious whether there was anything in the
audio portion of the presentation to cause people
to think this might happen. I picked up more
shares recently at $4.88. Would have been better
to have waited until last night or this morning,
but I'm a patient investor and I'm confident that
we'll see the north side of $10 before the year is out.

STXN releases software extending the capabilities of Eclipse product.

Stratex Networks Announces New Release of Eclipse(TM) System Software
Thursday June 3, 8:01 am ET

Expanded Nodal Configurations, Self-Healing Ring Architectures, New Hardware Support, and Expanded Network Planning Tools

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Stratex Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: STXN - News), one of the world's leading providers of wireless transmission solutions, today announced the second major release of system software for its new Eclipse nodal wireless platform. This new software supports new hardware features and delivers new unique functionality.

This software release extends the nodal capability of Eclipse to support up to six independent radio paths from a single indoor node unit, with cable-less traffic routing through Eclipse's integral high-speed TDM bus architecture. Eclipse now also supports increased redundancy through the introduction of a new card that duplicates power and control functions, enabling extremely high hardware availability. Support is also provided for a new version of the Eclipse outdoor unit (ODU), which is optimized for cost-effective, low to medium-capacity applications at the network edge.

Included in the new enhanced features being introduced is software support for the construction of wireless self-healing ring networks. Eclipse now enables scalable, Super-PDH(TM) rings to allow network traffic to be protected by being automatically routed around any fault or impairment on the ring, with detection and switching performed by the Eclipse Intelligent Node Unit (INU), without the need for external multiplexers or switches.

Software Tools

In addition to the Eclipse system software, Stratex has developed and released an extensive suite of tools for network planning, digital license management and manufacturing data tracking. These new tools provide customers with an effective means to simplify planning and efficiently deploy and upgrade network capacity.

The Eclipse network configuration tool, Focus NC, enables customers to model their network based upon the Eclipse nodal design, and generate a detailed and priced bill of materials with recommended spares and accessories. Focus NC also provides the ability to import data from and export data to industry-standard wireless planning and customer relationship management (CRM) tools. This comprehensive tool enables customers to demonstrate the unique value that Eclipse can deliver to their network, as well as simplifies the network design and equipment planning process.

Eclipse's digital licensing enables customers to plan for future network requirements, while also limiting their initial capital expenditures by deploying only the capacity that they need. Digital licensing unlocks the scalable capacity architecture of Eclipse, enabling simple, software-enabled upgrades. The Eclipse License Infrastructure Application (LIA) has been developed to enable Stratex Networks to track licenses and offer customers the ability to obtain new or upgraded node licenses simply and rapidly.

Manufacturing data for Eclipse is captured and managed by a new Manufacturing Database Application (MDA). Interfacing directly to the Stratex Networks ERP system, the MDA enhances repair & return support, quality assurance and overall asset tracking by providing detailed tracking of components and sub-components manufactured by Stratex Networks contract manufacturing partners. This new system tracks and shares data to streamline the Eclipse production process and allows effective monitoring and planning.

"This latest release of system software for Eclipse delivers increased functionality and flexibility that significantly enhances the nodal and network optimization capability that the platform delivers to our customers," stated Chuck Kissner, Chairman and CEO of Stratex Networks, Inc. "We are delighted by the response we have received to date for Eclipse and are excited about our continued roll out of advanced features for the platform which is proving to be the most versatile wireless transmission solution available."

Stratex Networks Announces Eclipse Quattro(TM)

Thursday September 9, 8:01 am ET

The Compact Ultra-High Capacity Alternative to Traditional Trunk Radio Solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Stratex Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: STXN - News), a leading provider of wireless transmission solutions, today announced Eclipse Quattro, a new ultra-high capacity extension to the industry-leading Eclipse(TM) nodal transmission system. Eclipse Quattro provides a cost-effective alternative to traditional trunk radio systems, and is packaged in an extremely compact split-mount package.

Eclipse Quattro extends Super-PDH(TM) capacities introduced in Stratex Networks' Eclipse platform to provide up to 256 E1 circuits or 336 DS1 circuits, SDH/SONET transmission up to 4x155Mbps/622Mbps, and Fast and Gigabit Ethernet data transport. Eclipse Quattro is fully compatible with the already released Eclipse platform, and the ProVision V element management system.

Eclipse Quattro also introduces Cross-Polar Interference Cancellation (XPIC) to allow the same frequency to be re-used on a link, doubling the amount of traffic carried using a single frequency pair, to optimize the use of scarce frequency resources.

Further leveraging Super-PDH technology, Eclipse Quattro also enables Concentric Ring(TM) network architectures, so that operators can build nested, ultra-high capacity, self-healing rings with built-in traffic adds and drops. All functions are contained in Eclipse Quattro wireless nodes without requiring external multiplexers or switches.

Utilizing the same indoor node and outdoor unit components from the existing Eclipse platform, Eclipse Quattro brings together trunk and access wireless systems into an integrated network solution that streamlines deployment and simplifies maintenance and spares holding.

Chuck Kissner, Chairman and CEO of Stratex Networks, Inc. stated, "We are extremely pleased to introduce this enhancement to our Eclipse platform to a market segment that we have not previously addressed. Eclipse Quattro offers significantly more capacity with the convenience of a modern, split-mount design. We can now offer scalable capacity for backbone applications so that our customers can avoid replacing equipment with much more expensive trunk radio systems."
