Alighieri, The actual tax increase would be double. 15% would need to be increased to 30%. (SS is currently a 15% tax, though many people think it is only 7.5% because that's what they see on their paycheck - corporations pay the other 7.5 for a net total of 15% per person.)

If the govt doubles the tax, I'd rather see all money above 15% put into a personal savings account the gov't can't touch. I do not trust the govt's spending habits. Nor how they reduced taxes in the face of deficits.
