"However this time around there is no CuMine on the horizon" No there isn't. True, there is Tejas and Intel has been making noises about PentiumM on the desktop. Tejas is at least a year out. PentiumMD might be sooner, although I suspect they would want to up the FSB speed. Probably the thing that will take the most time will be Intel marketing trying to come up with a strategy... Which, as you note, doesn't do squat for servers. While I am relieved that Intel adopted AMD64 pretty much as is, I just can't believe that a) they announced well before it is available, and b) it's 1 and 2 way only for at least a year. Considering that the P4E, uh, EE I guess, is conspicuous by it's absence and a Xeon64MP needs a large L3 cache, might Intel be having some problem making large caches in their new process? I can't imagine what it could be, but...
