I would tend to agree with much of what you say.....but.....Atheism is also a religion and when the state tries to stamp out public displays of religion they are creating an Atheist state! That's no better having the people who hate religion in control. Then they will persecute religion as has already been happening in this country!! The extreme case is Waco, Tx. Government persecution of religion that caused almost 80 deaths of innocent people. Where's the line? My opinion is that the state should not "interfere" with any expression of religion in any way, unless it crosses the line from legal to illegal. For instance, no one can beat someone up in the hopes they will accept Jesus. What the government is doing now is not separation of Church and State, it is the persecution of Christianity.
