Actaully, I'm sort of neutral on the ads. Certainly, 9/11 has ben the cornerstone of the presidency, and deserves to be talked about. Kerry needs to talk about it too.

The trick is to not offend any sensibilities. Some of the families will disagree with anything connected to the event. Some will agree with the Shrub on anything. How do you strike a balance? Vet the ads with the family groups first? Pick a magic number for disapproval by those folks, like 25% offended? Model campaigns on 1944, the post Pearl Harbor election? I don't know the answer, but there is a very fine line which must be walked.
To me, what is significant is not whether or not the ads are good or bad; it's that their message has been completely lost in the furor. Maybe even counter-productive. Signs of ineptness? Is Rove getting distracted by the Plame blame game?
