Seems like the Basque terrorists are a lot less lethal than AQ--last Summer they termed an explosion they set off killing 21 people in a supermarket a "mistake." Most of the time, they warn before the bombs go off. They also target specific individuals, i.e., judges, police chiefs, etc., against whom they hold a grudge. I don't think the word "mistake" exists in the AQ vocabulary. The coordinated explosions, the damage done, the denials by the separatists, and the van seem to slowly point to Islamists, though the van could well be a subterfuge.

<<Does anyone here have a feel for what may happen there.>> Aznar himself is not running...his "popular party" is running against the socialist party...the socialists have recently angered the people who feel they've recently been too soft on ETA...yet, with the AQ link slipping in...a very emotional and passionate citizenry faced with an election in 3 days while they are still burying their dead...I don't think anyone right now can call it.... IMO, they should postpone elections for a few weeks...let the emotions calm down so reason and some facts has the chance to inform voters... Zeta
