That is what I am saying. Government must be entirely neutral. I would not want the House to favour Judaism because they were mostly Jews--and likewise for Muslims, Christians, atheists, or any other favoritism.

It is not about atheism, per se. Atheism in and of itself is a naked belief. It has no creed--although an atheist can adopt a creed just like anyone else. Many atheists are humanists, but not all.

I am talking about secularism: A State whose concern is THIS WORLD and the protection of the rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness...with lawful regard for person, property, and contract. I do not want a Muslim taking my arm to lead me to an interview to explain why I have been missing mosque any more than you want an atheist or perhaps a Jew to block your entrance into Church.

I am not talking about stamping out public displays of religion. I am talking about the STATE not involving ITSELF in religion--publicly, or any other way. The State must maintain secular neutrality, otherwise YOU will NEVER know when YOUR religion might be stamped out...depending on who wields power.

Let the Churches preach supernaturalism and let the atheist promote humanism. The obligation of the State is to ensure that we have that right without any coercion from the State, or from any individual or group.

The State is not a Church. It is a secular body. Humanities only hope is that it remain so.
