Fwiw, I use both LTBH and short term trading but I mostly post on SI about my short term stuff. I rearranged my long term portfolio last year and I have only made a few trades in it over the past 6 months. This year in my long term port, I have only sold 50% of my AVCI stock after doubling up on it in Dec 02 (original purchase at $6 and doubled at $3 something). I'm still comfortable holding the other 50% regardless if it takes a big hit with the market - especially since I've taken profits which have recouped substantially more money then my total combined purchase cost. I will review the port 2 or 3 times per year and decide whether or not to adjust positions or add/delete.

Most of the stocks I hold in my long term portfolio have gone up well over 100% since the lows of Oct 02 and I still believe that many of them will rise even higher in the next couple of years. Not overnight, but eventually. Here is where I differ slightly from BWAC, as I do think fundamentals matter over the long haul and that good companies can be purchased when the stock price is totally out of favor, then held for years of appreciation.

As I'm sure you've noticed, on this thread my focus has been swing, position and day trading.
