While wealthy individuals like President Bush and Mr. Greenspan may not need Social Security, millions of Americans depend on it. I oppose Mr. Greenspan's suggestion to cut Social Security benefits, and I oppose President Bush's plan to privatize Social Security via the creation of individual accounts, which would undermine the program and could lead to benefit cuts of 40 percent or more.
