Steve - the question is where will we be in say 3 years. When the nation is in a recession a deficit is to be expected. When the country is in a boom there should not be a deficit.

My personal belief is that the ultimate answer is economic growth. Growth that brings those at the bottom of the ladder up. This my biggest issue with dems - they do not see growth as the answer. They see a static pie.

What is completely missing in the discussion is what our revenues would be if our growth rate is 4% instead of 3%. What would our revenues be if our gr was 5%.

Clearly - a 0% gr will not do it. This should be the debate!
