I hear you re Europe. Yes, we do subsidize the unemployed for a long long time here. It is a different social system whereby people feel it is better for the society as a whole to take care of those in need. Or something. I cannot really comment on it, for or against. It seems to me that Europeans feel like paying for peers out of work but not for invasion of other countries -g-

So the government thinks you are unemployed but makes you pay taxes anyway? That's not nice.

Personally, I don't mind paying no taxes. Tax haven and all that, you know. Still, if I get fired tomorrow, the state will pay me my last salary in full for six months, and then a large portion of it for another six months. Can't really complain -g-
