David, That was G & M Code not C and M it has to do with the controlling of the movement of CNC machines. see this link. cnccontrols.com

what you posted was interesting nonetheless.

I have never heard of MUMPS before.

here we go,

There are a considerable number of definitions, some are just rewording, others are different, for the G codes (also know as preparatory functions) and M codes (also know as miscellaneous functions) that can be found in books and on the web.

still why do they use G? maybe for Get or Go
