Before reparations...I"m not personally going to be phobic about posting articles. Except maybe the SFC articles. And the URL to all articles can always be posted. And while I"m on the subject, I hope it's clear to everyone that SI Dave was not censoring by deleting those articles for personal reasons.

Back to reparations:

IMO the reparations campaign is hugely counterproductive and raises practical (not to mention philosophical) questions so complex that a mere listing of them appears farcical. For a while, the question was much in the news, and some good articles were posted on SI on the subject. For example, do the decendants of former slaves who, after gaining their freedom, themselves owned slaves, get or give reparations? (I recently read The Known World, by Edward Jones, a novel with that subject as a theme. That's why that example occurred to me.)

Where in Mexico are you going? Are you packed yet? I wish I were going someplace warm and sunny.

Edit P.S.:

The Horowitz case against reparations is one I recall from earlier discussion:

zwerling.valuemembers.net

These are Walter William's arguments. Makes good points, somewhat irritably. He himself is black.

zwerling.valuemembers.net

Important point, imo:

The reparations movement would be little more than an amusing sideshow were it not for the damage it can do to blacks. It misallocates time and resources that could be more fruitfully spent elsewhere.

I want amends from France for the land Willam the Conqueror stole from my ancestors.

E and Chris pretty much covered my response to reperations. They wouldn't be just, they would be a huge mess and they distract effort and any serious attempt to get them will distract effort and resources from more important things.
