My friends are terrified as their major company just announced it's downsizing (again), another multi-national cutting US jobs by the thousands and either moving them offshore or making fewer people shoulder the same responsibilities. These contractions have been going on everywhere except in the medical, real estate and defense sectors. We're being gouged on medical costs, real estate is a bubble tanks to Greenspan and the war on Iraq created all kinds of temporary jobs. Why has Bush done nothing about the continuing layoffs? Last month only 20,000+ jobs were created, all of them in the public sector.
