Jobs Czar Left Jobless
Published: March 13, 2004

Every now and then, a hollow gesture actually does come back to haunt a politician. For President Bush, his ballyhooed announcement last Labor Day to appoint a "jobs czar" in the Commerce Department has boomeranged badly. The expected appointment of Anthony Raimondo, a Nebraska businessman, as the new assistant secretary for manufacturing suddenly fell through as Democrats circulated word that Mr. Raimondo had laid off 75 of his workers two years ago and planned to open a $3 million factory in China.

(Mr Bush's solution to loosing so many of ours jobs is to hire someone who can help Americans fill out their visa applications to immigrate to India and China to get their jobs back.)
