i remember the ceo of Mobil in 1960's saying this was the greatest thing coming of age.. it was a company developing solar energy in Ma. that we bought and heavily invested into for the next two decades and dumped in 80's.

Hi Mary:
... and Germany is increasing the percentage of renewable energy resources. It's 2.9% of the total energy consumption balance right now - her's the German energy portfolio:

2.9% renewable resources
12.6 nuclear power
11.6 brown coal
13.2 black coal
21.7 natural gas
37.5 oil
0.5 others

the wind power percentage in electric power production (6.3% in 2000) should rise to 12.5% (one eighth) in 2010.

whatever the current line of thought, I dont think we can make it without nuclear power. Maybe the fusion ... But dont count on it - yet. And negaWats are a great idea - when applied to US cars of course;)
