I didn't say Kerry wouldn't effect change. I said he can't do it overnight, and I don't think he promised to. I don't see grounds for suggesting that Kerry is lying that he'll take measures to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. Are you suggesting it because it hasn't been done in the past? I understand the feeling, but it doesn't suffice. As the urgency increases, some president will have to act. It might as well be Kerry. And why shouldn't he? He's not the creature of the oil companies; Bush is. I'm making a pretty simple point: that past precedent doesn't seal the argument.
