What sort of sanctions do you think might be effective if Iran maintains its position? We don't know what will work until we try it. Best guess is that the Iranians don't like the Mullahs running things. We will not get UN or Euro cooperation. They are not threatened by the Mullahs as directly. We isolate them and openly declare the regime to be illegitimate. We support the American Iranians in their propaganda efforts. Let them try to guess if we will send our Military in from Iraq. It will be a "two front" effort. We have to confront Iran and our State Department at the same time.
