The phony energy crisis proved we can't trust them. What's wrong with that? Why is is not a fundamental part of our democacy to watch over huge corporate interests and make sure they play by the rules? Giving them so much power without any law enforcement if crazy. it's just an invitation to steal. Look at what the S+L deregulation did. Loo at what energy deregulation did. And look at what Wall Street is capable of when left unchecked. The era of big government may be over (as if) but where we DO need government is watching companies we entrust with so much of our financial, defense and environmental future. The energy sector especially, but also HMO's, drug companies, defense contractors and all others.
