I agree, Bush's fiscal mismanagement is hard to beat. But his worst accomplishment in my view is his hiring practices. He deliberately hires people based on ideology and not skill, for the entire cabinet. yikes.

It's perfectly possible. It's also perfectly possible for someone to do better. But in part, things went badly for him because of the irrational exhuberance in the tech industry, and because major capital spending before Y2K meant that capital spending in 2001 was down considerably. Which had nothing to do with his economic policies.

I'm not one of those who happens to agree with many of his policies. But I also am fair enough to realize that no President can buck macro-economic effects like the millenium effect, which by definition happens only once ever thousand years.

Quite possibly. But OTOH, there are a lot of special interests that have invested a lot in him over the years, and if you think they're going to sit back and not get their rewards, well, you and I will just have to agree to disagree about that.
