over the past 10 years is described by one word: Cement.

The Japanese have printed Yen and covered the country in cement, in a series of endless public works projects that surely outdoes the programs of FDR (OK--maybe not "outdoes"--but approximates.)

Seems to me war has been one of the surest ways to finally pull an economy from deflationary funk.
