My reaction to terrorism is visceral and trancends borders. I think you feel the same way. Furthermore it is unseemly to attack spanish people for being opposed to the war ir iraq and then the crazy segway to letting al qaeda operate freely in their country. Spain was set to vote for the conservatives based on economic issues. The terror blow brought back the earlier warnings of the socialists as to spain becoming a target and then the government seemed to engage in a mini-coverup to win the election.
This is all human stuff and does not become appeasement unless spain opts out of the war on terror. I am placing a big bet on France in leading the europeans in understanding the true nature of the terror threat. It would be good for Bush and Kerry to get on this same page. I challenge pro-iraq and anti-iraq folks to lay down the verbal weapons and try to determine a coherent policy from this day foward. Mike
