THESE ARE MY ONLY THOUGHTS...
Are you looking in My Douments folder or looking at my documents on the start menu.
Look carefully at the extention. did you inadvertently save it as a .WKS file or some other.
If you can see the properties of the shortcut click on.. find target
I know these sound banal but.....
