I am not challenging the fact that SS is currently
running a "surplus".

I am merely pointing out that Enron was
running a "surplus" too (as long as it
could keep convincing new investors to
keep pumping new money into it).

The point being: just because a financial entity
is CURRENTLY running a "surplus" does not automatically
imply that it is on solid footing.
