Bush may have made major promotional mistakes but there is no "oil" or "neocons rule the world" agenda. I think you are letting your hopes interfere with reality. The neocons have been rather open about their goals, and they are every bit as nefarious as any hypothetical conspiracy. The PNAC position calls for nothing less than world conquest in the name of stability. Don't take my word for it, just read the works of Perle, Wolfowitz, Poindexter, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice.
