The former prime minister of Spain is to blame, not the Spanish people. He went into Iraq knowing that over 90% of the Spanish people disapproved of his action.

A leader should never go to war with less than 10% support, he was a jackass to do it.

The consequences of going to war with support of less than 10% of the people is that the minute something goes wrong, there is insurmountable pressure to get out.

"IMO if the same situation occurred in the USA, the election results would be exactly the opposite"

Fortunately for now, I think you are right. But to watch the Deitrichs, JFs, orcys, etc. it is hard to tell.= for sure. The glee they get by slamming our President is down right scary. Dietrich seems to think what just happened is a victory for the Spanish people.

Don't the Spanish have troops in Afghanistan? Last time I checked, there was no opposition to that from the Spanish people. They were opposed to getting into Iraq, and post-war facts have proved them right.

"Never give in... never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."

- - Winston Churchill

Very well said, I certainly hope we have better sense than that...
