" Well, I see no relationship between the puzzle of existence and the matter I was addressing. I was only stating that Polkinghorne was not saying anything pertinent to the existence (or not) of a God or Gods. What is wrong with saying, "this is all just here"? It is what you WILL say whether you say God was all just here, or matter or energy was all just here, or something else was all just here. Then again, you could say it was not all just here but was just there or just nowhere; or God was not all just here but just there, or nowhere...or anything else at all. We have no reason to believe or disbelieve in anything before the big bang or beyond our universe. Two ants meeting on the ant hill are simply not going to have all the answers--nor you and I. The best we can do is to eliminate answers which are obviously irrational and dangerous to human existence and social harmony. If all that exists (even empty space) is all that can exist (nothing new can be created) then it would seem that we are all a part of that whole. In other words if God was all there was, then God is all there is. So we are back where we started: eating corn, having sex, and wandering around turning over rocks to see under. There is neither point nor need in seeking meaning through the pretense of knowing the unknowable. It is not what we don't know that is to be feared, so much as what we think we do."We are here against relatively (astoundingly, actually) high odds whether accidently or intentionally " We have absolutely no way of knowing what the odds are of our being here. It depends on whether it could have been otherwise. If it could not have been otherwise, then the odds of our being here were certainty. In any case, it is irrelevant. The odds of the next lottery number which will be drawn is billions to one. Yet that number will be there. If we draw a trillion digit number by computer the odds are almost infinitesimal...but an exact number will be there, nevertheless. Saying it was unlikely is true...but secondary to the fact that it IS. The fact that a sperm and an egg made YOU is a gazillion times a gazillion to the gazillionth power to one. Yet you are here. Am I surprised? No."What do you say " It takes a minute to load the audio. Turn it up and enjoy yourself!rvproperty.com
